FIH Regulation Bow Shapes and Player Positions
In modern field hockey, a stick’s curve (bow) directly dictates a player’s 3D skill execution, aerial passing, and drag flicking velocity. Under International Hockey Federation (FIH) regulations, the maximum bow depth allowed is 25mm.
1. Extreme Low Bow (ELB)
The bow apex is positioned approximately 200mm from the head of the stick with a 24.75mm curve depth. This aggressive low curve makes lifting the ball effortless, rendering the stick the weapon of choice for penalty corner drag flick specialists and attacking forwards executing aerial scoops and fast 3D dribbling.
2. Low Bow (LB)
The apex sits at 220mm–250mm from the head. It provides a balanced compromise between flicking agility and flat slap hitting control. Highly recommended for midfielders who manage match tempo with sweeping distributions and rapid stick handling.
3. Pro Bow / Mid Bow
Positioned at 250mm–300mm from the head. This traditional shape offers supreme slap hitting accuracy, defensive block tackling, and flat sweeping. Preferred by sweepers, defenders, and traditional grass turf players.
Twin Carbon Channel Core Technology
POWERBRO GROUP field hockey sticks feature dual internal carbon chambers running along the entire shaft length. This internal reinforcement dissipates vibrations up to the handle while maximizing energy transfer on overhead slap shots.
